Romanian 10-Mo FDI Up 37% YY To EUR8.16B – Ctrl Bk

Foreign direct investment in Romania in the first ten months stood at EUR8.16 billion, 37% higher compared with EUR5.95 billion the same period of 2007, the central bank said on Friday.

Of the total foreign direct investments in the January-October period, the equity stakes and the net reinvested earnings totaled 51.3%.

The net credits, namely the direct companies’ borrowings from the foreign investor, less the loans extended by the companies to the foreign investor or to another entity within its group, were 48.7% of the total FDI amount.

In October only, FDI amount was at EUR1.1 billion, higher compared with EUR850 million in the same month of 2007.

The Romanian agency for foreign investments ARIS sees total FDI at EUR8 billion in 2008, while the government forecasted EUR10 billion investments.

In 2007, Romania attracted foreign direct investments worth EUR7.25 billion.
