Romanian Businessman Sorin Ovidiu Vintu To Be Tried At Large

The court’s ruling is final. Vintu, former owner of Realitatea Media, and his associate, Ion Ilie Cezar, will be released from preventive custody Thursday evening.

On May 23, Vintu and Cezar were indicted for blackmailing Sebastian Ghita, manager of Realitatea Media. Prosecutors said the defendants forced Ghita to pay them EUR150,000 or accept the denouncement of a contract.

In late April, businessman Elan Schwartzenberg bought 90% of the Realitatea media group. Vintu’s daughter, Ioana, said her father is no longer involved in the business.
