Caballé delighted the audience with an astonishing performance of famous roles she had sung throughout the time in Paris, Barcelona, Milan, Vienna, Buenos Aires, Toronto or New York.
Al Bano performed at the concert as Honorific Ambassador of Bucharest after Bucharest mayor Sorin Oprescu designated him "Honorific Ambassador of Bucharest across the world" late March this year.
Caballé and Al Bano also performed together accompanied by the "Bucharest Symphonic Pops" orchestra conducted by Constantin Adrian Grigore.
Caballé, one of the greatest sopranos of the 20th century, possesses a voice of remarkable beauty and of great range and flexibility and became famous for her flawless bel canto technique and unfailling musicianship. She is particularly admired for her famous interpretations of the works of Rossini, Bellini, Donizetti and Verdi.
Caballé, a UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador, dedicated herself to various charities and even established a foundation for needy children in Barcelona.
The concert was also attended by high-ranking officials. Oprescu thanked the attendees and stressed the municipality will continue to organize such concerts in Bucharest during important holidays.
