Defense Council Meeting Suspended By President
A meeting of Romania’s Supreme Council for National Defense (CSAT) on Tuesday was suspended by President Klaus Iohannis, at the request of council members, following prolonged discussions on important subjects of national security.

According to a statement issued by the Presidential Administration, the president decided that the meeting will be continued on December 19, with the same agenda.
The CSAT meeting on Tuesday lasted for approximately three and a half hours.
The meeting was attended, among others, by Prime Minister Viorica Dancila, Romanian Intelligence Service Director Eduard Hellvig, Defense Minister Gabriel Les and Foreign Minister Teodor Melescanu. Also present were Interior Minister Carmen Dan, Justice Minister Tudorel Toader, Economy Minister Niculae Badalau and Finance Minister Eugen Teodorovici.
According to the meeting’s agenda, it tackled subjects related to the deployment of Romanian military forces, but also the recent Azov Sea incident between Russia and Ukraine.
