Romania To Cancel Some 18 Flights To Bucharest During NATO Summit

Fifteen to 18 two-way flights of Romanian flag-carrier Tarom and other airlines will be cancelled on Bucharest’s international Otopeni airport during the NATO summit early April, airport communication manager Valentin Iordache said Friday.

"There will be security-related restrictions and 15 to 18two-way flights will be cancelled. These restrictions neither depend on the airport, nor the airliners," Iordache said on the sidelines of a seminar discussing transport infrastructure.

The airport official confirmed flight delays might be registered during arrival rush hours due to security restrictions.

Referring to potential losses the airport might register, Iordache said that will not be the case, as passengers would arrive in Bucharest either before or after the summit.

"Passengers will come to Bucharest before or after the NATO summit, so there is no talk of losses," Iordache said.
