Against the US dollar, the leu’s indicative won 1.1% on the day at 2.9093 units, the strongest rate since January 25, 2010.
The leu opened higher at 4.159/4.16 per euro, from 4.16/4.161 at Monday’s closing.
It continued to gain ground in the first part of Tuesday’s session, in line with the regional trend, on a positive sentiment on the international markets. The leu traded at 4.14/4.143 to the euro at around GMT1100.
On the money market, overnight rates were barely changed at 2.3%-2.8% a year.
