Romanian Parliament Dismisses Public Television General Manager
Sassu told lawmakers he takes full responsibility for the three years he was at the helm of the public television, adding he never fired anyone, although he had been required to do it.
Under the law, Sassu remains in office for 15 days until a new managing board is appointed.
During debates on the television’s activity report, Sassu said the network has a budget deficit of about EUR10 million when he took charge in 2007 and the gap was set to widen to EUR18 million. He said the television managed to keep its budget deficit at about EUR12 million in 2008. Sassu also told lawmakers money hasn’t disappeared anywhere, but the network’s funding was gradually reduced over the past years.
