Following the move, ANRCTI’s freshly reinstated president, Dan Georgescu, can no longer return to office.

ANRCTI was restructured to have a “single body managing the state’s resources in the field, namely telephony numbers, the radio spectrum, the internet domains .ro,” secretary of state with the Ministry of Communications, Constantin Tedorescu said Thursday.

Romanian Premier Calin Popescu Tariceanu in August dismissed Georgescu from his post as head of ANRCTI, citing the infringement of several laws in the IT&C field.

However, the Bucharest Court of Appeals on Thursday overturned the premier’s decision and ruled Georgescu was free to return to office.
