DNA Tests Don’t Incriminate Romanian Suspects Accused Of Rape In Rome

Two Romanians Karol Racz, 36, and Alexandru Loyos Isztoika, 19, were arrested in Rome two weeks ago and charged with the rape of the teenage girl and robbery of her boyfriend.

First DNA test results don’t incriminate the two and investigators requested that the tests be repeated.

According to Italian paper Il Messaggero, samples collected from Racz don’t match the samples from the victim at all, while in Isztoika’s case, there are only analogies with semen samples collected from the victim’s body.

Also, it seems the mobile phones of the two suspects were located in different areas of Rome at the time of the rape.

Isztoika initially confessed to having raped the girl and indicated Racz as his accomplice, but later withdrew his confession saying it had been coerced.

In the meantime, the two remain in custody in the Regina Coeli prison under charges of rape and robbery, although, according to Italian media, the real rapists might still be free.
