Romania’s Dorinel Munteanu To Quit National Team – Coach
"You have seen my statements, there is no question of a retreat game now. I talked to Dorinel on Sunday and he told me he would like to end his career at the national team. We’ll organize his formal retreat in spring if we have a bigger friendly match,” Piturca said.
He added that physically, Munteanu is still a great player, but he cannot handle playing for two teams.
Munteanu, 39, was not summoned for the last two qualifiers for Euro 2008, against Bulgaria away on November 17 and Albania, at home, on November 21.
