IKEA Romania Recalls Lamp On Fire Hazard Potential
The Swedish National Electricity Safety Board tested the Femton lamp and concluded the product is a potential fire hazard if it overheats. Although the lamp has been on sale since 2004, no IKEA store ever received complaints from customers signaling any such incidents, IKEA Romania said in a press release.
The retailer decided to recall the product and refund the customers who wish to return it. The lamp is made in China and sold in Europe, Asia and Australia since 2004.
The IKEA store in Bucharest sold 564 such lamps since it opened until May 2008.
The IKEA network entered the Romanian market in 2007. The company plans to open eight stores in Romania at most, two or three of which are expected to open in the upcoming four or five years.
