The cooperation agreement between Romania and Switzerland is an important element in the strengthening of bilateral relations and its main goal is to reduce economic and social disparities between Romania and the EU’s more developed states, the Finance Ministry said.

So far, Switzerland has also provided non-reimbursable financial aid for ten countries that joined the European Union in 2004

The sum Romania is to get from Switzerland was approved by the Swiss Parliament in December 2009.

The funds cover fields such as security, stability and reform support, environment and infrastructure, private sector support and social and human resources development.
