Businessman Sorin Vantu Sues Romanian President For Slander

According to Ciutacu, Vantu demands EUR1 million in compensation.

Romanian President Traian Basescu said on June 16, on the TV show “Nasul”, that Sorin Ovidiu Vantu carried out “a swindle” during the final period of the previous government under prime minister Calin Popescu Tariceanu, through an illegal VAT refund of around EUR60 million, which Vantu allegedly transferred to Cyprus and invested it into his media group, Realitatea-Catavencu.
