Romania’s Econ Growth Seen Nearing 8% In 2Q – Fin Min

Romania’s economic growth is seen nearing 8% in the second quarter, compared with a gross domestic product growth of 8.2% in the first three months of the year, Economy and Finance Minister Varujan Vosganian said Thursday.

In January-March, the construction sector was up 32.4% compared with the first three months in 2007, according to National Statistics Institute data.

The industry was up 5.4% in the first quarter, while services were up 7.5%. Agriculture reported a 0.5% fall while the services sector contributed four percentage points to the GDP.
