These recommendations are included in the chapter on the „effectiveness of judicial action” of the report on Romania under the Cooperation and Verification Mechanism, published Wednesday in Brussels.
The EC also suggests Romania take urgent measures „to improve judicial practice and case management.”
Another recommendation concerns continuing „the reform of the High Court of Cassation and Justice in order to strengthen its cassation role and to increase its capacity to deal with high-level corruption cases.”
The Commission suggests „[improving] the dissuasiveness and consistency of court sanctions in high-level corruption cases and [demonstrating] better results in investigating, prosecuting and judging cases of fraud of EU funds and in public procurement.”
