Judge Horatius Dumbrava was elected CSM president earlier Friday.

The CSM convened Friday morning to elect a new president and vice-president even though President Traian Basescu and the justice minister called on the High Council of Magistrates to postpone elections until January 20, after the Constitutional Court rules over the validation of the council’s members.

The Romanian Constitutional Court will rule on January 19 on a notification brought to the recently validated list of new High Council of Magistrates members.
