Robber Shoots Cab Driver In C Romania

A cab driver in the central Romanian city of Brasov was shot in the lower jaw Saturday evening by an unknown man who tried to rob him at gunpoint.

The driver was taken to the local county hospital for surgery.
 
Police spokesman Liviu Naghi said Monday the driver, 49, was attacked Saturday evening by an unknown man who got in the cab and tried to rob him of the day’s earnings at gunpoint. Naghi said the man shot the driver and ran without taking the money.
 
"An hour after this incident, a similar case was reported in Arges county (southern Romania), where another cab driver was robbed of RON130. We can’t be sure it was the same robber because we don’t have any evidence in this respect,” Naghi said.
 
The police spokesman added the case hasn’t been made public earlier because the investigation to find the attacker is ongoing.
