Electrica did not reveal the names of the two foreign companies that plan to invest in Romania.
Electrica reported a preliminary gross profit of RON1.481 billion, up ten times against RON141 million in the same period a year earlier, driven largely by the privatization of Electrica Muntenia Sud.
Electrica currently owns three branches, namely Electrica Muntenia Nord, Transilvania Nord and Transilvania Sud, after Italy’s Enel bought in 2005 two of its branches namely Electrica Banat and Electrica Dobrogea and is about to close the deal on another branch Electrica Muntenia Sud. In addition to the ones bought by Enel, Czech CEZ and Germany’s E.ON bought one supplier each.
