The structure will be led by the prime minister’s economic advisor, Andreea Paul-Vass.
The Council’s main objective will be to develop the National Competitiveness Strategy Romania 2020, through dialog between the government, businesses and academia, said Vass. Its members will include 20 state officials, experts from the 12 most competitive universities and 40 representatives of the largest employers and taxpayers in the private sector.
The National Reform Program for 2011-2013, presented by MEDIAFAX in May, provided for the creation of an institution to coordinate economic development policy, arguing that executive interventions are disparate, lacking sight of the bigger picture.
