Iordache said the management on Thursday did not come up with another offer to increase salaries, above the RON118 hike proposed two days before. Unionists had demanded an increase of RON550 in two tranches: RON350 staring Jan 1, 2008 and RON200 starting Jun 1, 2008.
"Negotiations started based on the RON118 offer, which is unacceptable. Therefore, there was nothing to talk about. It is clear we’ll go on general strike Monday, as we have signatures from 80% of the employees,” Iordache said.
The management could not be reached for comment.
Dacia employees last went on general strike in 2002, for three days.
Over 4,000 employees were on warning strike last Friday, demanding higher wages and higher Easter and Christmas bonuses.
The carmaker employs 13,000 people.
