„The price of one liter of liquefied petroleum gas is 50% cheaper compared with the gasoline, whose price will continue to grow next year, due to the European Commission’s demands on introducing more ethanol into its composition,” said Monday Silviu Raicea, the sales manager of Autogaz Romania, the company covering, according to its own data, 55% of this alternative fuel system market segment.

In 2009, the LPG car systems market rose 20% on the year.

The cost of transforming a Euro 4 engine for an alternative fuel varies between 2,000 lei (EUR1=RON4.2141) and RON10,000, according to the type of car and the complexity of its engine.

Early 2008, about 5% of Romania’s auto park used LPG as fuel.

Six companies activate on Romania’s LPG installation systems.

In Romania and Bulgaria, Autogaz owns 100 LPG system installation services. The company is owned by two Bulgarian citizens.

In 2008, Autogaz reported a turnover of RON6.86 million, according to the Finance Ministry’s data.
