EU Commissioner Invites Farmers To Debate Agriculture Policies On Her Blog
Boel last week called to consultations on her blog all farmers and other interested parties from allover Europe to express their opinion on reforming the common agriculture policy.
“I think the discussion should not aim only towards ministers and their personnel, but also the members of the European Parliament, the groups of farmers, the non governmental organizations, people on the street (…) I would ask all people in the blogosphere to engage in this debate and also encourage others to do the same. My blog is the perfect place for such a debate,” wrote Boel on her blog.
The commissioner said that all those interested could write on the blog in their mother tongue.
The European Commission, in its attempt to improve debates regarding the CAP, launched a web site destined for the evaluation of agriculture policies and is organizing two conferences, on December 6 and January 11, to be accessed through the web page of the EU’s Agriculture Department.
Debates to find the means to simplify CAP procedures have already started at European level.
Some 250 farmers, including Romanian ones, protested in Brussels at the end of November against the measures in the agriculture sector.
