"The European Commission’s fall prognosis regarding the economic growth shows an important fall to 1.4%, compared with the spring estimation of 2%," Orban said.

He said that the negative results regarding the economic growth from important states in the EU, such as Germany, would affect Romania as well.

"Inevitably, this will have an impact on Romania," Orban said.

Romania’s economy grew 8.8% in the first half of the year, boosted by a robust 9.3% increase in gross domestic product in the second quarter, following a good agricultural year, analysts said.
