Social democrat leader Mircea Geoana said after the standing office meeting that the mandate received by the National Executive Committee (last week) allows the social democrat leaders to sign this partnership with the democrat liberals, to form a parliament majority.

Geoană admitted though that the partnership also needs to be validated by the party’s National Council, adding that this will happen “at one point.”

Geoana also said next week, probably Wednesday, the National Executive Committee will be summoned to validate the party’s nominations for the new government.

The presidents of the Social Democratic Party and the Democratic Liberal Party, Mircea Geoana and Emil Boc, will sign Sunday at 1600 GMT the Partnership for Romania.
