"I can confirm that EC plans to adopt tomorrow (Thursday – e.n.) the reports for Romania and Bulgaria regarding the cooperation and control mechanism in the justice field. Last minute changes are still possible, but the main intention is to adopt it tomorrow," Gray said.

Gray told MEDIAFAX Monday that the Commission hopes to adopt the report this week, but the exact date would depend on internal discussions at the European Commission.

"We hope to adopt the report this week. The report is still being drafted," Gray said Monday.

Romanian EU Commissioner for Multilingualism, Leonard Orban, said Thursday the EC justice report would be adopted in a few days, maximum two weeks.

"The report is nearly done, and will be adopted in February – in a few days, maximum two weeks,” Orban said in reply to a question of whether the report will be influenced by Romanian lawmakers’ rejection of a corruption investigation of former prime minister Adrian Nastase.

The report to be adopted this month is intermediary and of a technical nature, and the final, more ample report, is expected in summer.
