Buda considers this highway as the country’s main national objective and stressed that halting construction works on the highway "might have devastating effects from the standpoint of the infrastructure network development and the penalties Romania might get, not to mention the mockery toward the people living in Transylvania."

Romania’s road and highway company, or CNADNR, has already used up the 2008 budget earmarked for Transylvania highway, which means construction works might be halted, according to the company’s general manager Mihai Grecu.
