EXCLUSIVE: F-15s, F-16 Fighting Falcons, KC-135E Tankers As NATO Summit Air Support

The United States and NATO will unfold air patrol missions throughout the NATO summit, planes involved including F15 Strike Eagle fighters stationed in Grat Britain and F16 fighters from the Aviano base in Italy, security sources told MEDIAFAX.

NATO and the United States of America will provide the military air equipment and infrastructure necessary for aerial police missions in Romanian airspace throughout the NATO summit held in Bucharest.

Forces brought in include American F-15 C/E Strike Eagles fighter jets, from the 48th Fighter Wing (48 FW) – part of the American air forces based out of Lakenheath, UK.

Other planes include F-16 Fighting Falcons from the 31st Fighter Wing, stationed in the Aviano airbase in Italy.

Air refueling KC-135EStratotanker tanker aircraft, from the 100th Aerial refueling wing, come from the British Air Force base in Mildenhall, England.

According to the quoted sources, the USA-NATO agreement states that the American forces will supplement the air police mission unfolded by the Alliance.
