EXCLUSIVE: Romanian Govt Bans Financial Incentives For Public Sector Next Year

The bill, discussed by the Government in the Cabinet meeting Wednesday, sets that public institutions, both local and central and regardless of their financing systems except institutions that are fully funded from their own revenues, are banned from giving vouchers to employees.

The bill also sets a ban for next year on gift and vacation vouchers, bonuses and other financial incentives and establishes that overtime is to be rewarded with time off, not money.

The bill is dated November 17 and will be sent to the International Monetary Fund for consultations before the Government seeks a confidence vote in Parliament to adopt it.
