Romania January Late Pays On Euro Household Loans Top RON1B
In January 2009, overdue euro-denominated loans stood at RON155 million.
Late payments for loans in foreign currencies other than the euro reached RON250 million end-January, almost double from RON133 million in December last year. Of that, the bulk of overdue payments were for loans in Swiss francs.
Overdue loans in Romanian currency leu amounted to RON1.97 billion in January, up 8% from a month earlier.
End-January, the total number of debtors reached 1,042.649 people, up by 28,279 people from December 2009.
Loans overdue by more than 90 days rose 11% on the month to RON2.44 billion in January, central bank data showed.
