LPF’s disciplinary commission also fined Penescu 300,000 lei (EUR1-RON 4.2170).

FC Arges’ president Cristi Minca and club manager Gheorghita Pieca were also declared personae non-gratae and they each received a similar fine.

FC Arges can appeal the decision within five days.

Cornel Penescu, alongside the head of Romania’s refereeing committee, Gheorghe Constantin, were arrested in April on bribery charges related to match fixing.

The two face up to 15 years in prison if found guilty of paying or receiving bribes.

Two other persons are investigated in the file, namely Liviu Facaleata, general manager of PIC hypermarket, and Cristian Libertatu, former director of OPC Arges.
