Romanian Prime Minister Unfazed By German Parliament Resolution

The Romanian Government knows what needs to be done to reform the justice system, Prime Minister Emil Boc said, referring to a resolution adopted by the German Parliament, which recommends the EU cut aid to Romania, on account of a lacking justice system.

“Maybe they are in the middle of an election campaign… What I am saying is we know what we have to do. The Government is never happy about news on Romania which has a negative impact, but I know what we have to do and what we are discussing with the European Commission,” Boc said.

The resolution adopted Thursday by the German Parliament demands the EU stop sending aid to Romania. The text is based on a document developed by the Human Rights Commission, which notes “concern about the issues still remaining regarding the rule of law.”
