Isarescu said everybody is displeased with how social services work in Romania, adding that taking considerable amounts of money from one sector to finance others will not contribute to the social welfare.

The central bank governor said Romania is in dire need of serious debates on economic and financial issues and criticized TV stations for their lack of professionalism in conducting such debates.

Isarescu said Romania still has to make serious decisions even if it is no longer so deeply affected by the economic crisis as in 2009, adding it must learn from the mistakes of countries such as Greece, where the economy is no longer sustainable due to a high deficit and too generous pension and administrative systems.
