Romanian Transp Min Shuts Down Unprofitable Rail Route
“The train generates losses and, like any thing that triggers losses, will be shut down. Ridership is too low,” Berceanu said.
He did not forward a date on the service’s termination.
The Bucharest-Otopeni rail route was launched in February.
The train travels on the route Gara de Nord – Triaj – Chitila – Mogosoaia – Balotesti, from where passengers have to continue their journey by bus until they reach Otopeni Airport.
The price per ticket, including the bus fare, is of six lei (EUR1=RON4.1529).
