Speaking at an economic seminar in Bucharest, Roubini said Romania might not be ready to adopt the euro in 2015. Additionally, eurozone members are more reluctant in welcoming new states, following the recent developments in Greece.
Roubini, an economics professor at New York University, said the eurozone’s structure could experience a series of changes by 2015, including shedding a few of its weaker members.
Early May, the Romanian government decided to keep the year 2015 as the official deadline for euro adoption, after President Traian Basescu stressed the deadline was necessary to ensure reforms are made on time.
