Romanian Mothers To Receive Fin Aid For Each Baby Delivered In Multiple Birth-Draft Law
“Following the notification of the Alliance Against Discrimination of All Dads, we decided to draw up a draft law supporting family with twins, triplets or quadruplets, so as to have each baby receive the childbirth indemnity of 600 lei (EUR1=RON4.2775), and the benefit of RON200," Giurgiu said in a press conference Friday.
The draft law will take into account a new legislation for the cases in which a baby is born just one year after the first one, as currently the first child loses the right to the benefit if the second baby is born less than two years apart.
“We cannot discriminate between one baby and another,” Giurgiu said.
He said the Labor Ministry’s budget will be able to support the sums for the childbirth indemnity and the child benefit in the case of multiples, as there are not many such cases on national level.
Currently, mothers delivering twins, triplets or quadruplets receive a monthly childbirth indemnity worth RON600 and a child allowance worth RON200 for each baby, until the baby is two years-old.
