The project mentions the expansion of the online reservation system, said a press release issued by the Romanian Ministry of Transport.

In order to allow passengers to buy tickets while on the train, the passenger division within the National Railroad Company, CFR Calatori, would introduce, in Spring 2008, 100 mobile desks in train cars, the price being higher than the one charged at CFR desks.

Regarding the online reservation system, it would be expanded in two stages. In the first stage, other CFR Calatori authorized sales agents, such as travel agencies, tourism agencies or other railroad transport operators, will also issue tickets. The ticket will be picked up from a desk in train stations or CFR travel agencies.

The second stage includes individual online reservation by any passenger, after registration in the company database.

The online ticket reservation project is due for completion in the second half of 2008, while equipment installation would conclude on September 30, 2007. Also starting with September 30, ticket reservation and issuing will be performed electronically at al CFR desks and agencies.

Advantages brought by this project include the reduction in the average time required for the issuing of a ticket, to some 45 seconds.
