Romanian PM To Announce Measures On Wage Hikes After Govt Meeting

Romanian Prime Minister Calin Tariceanu said Tuesday in his opening speech at the Mediafax talks about Auto Industry conference that the government has thought out the solution to the law hiking teachers’ wages by 50%, to be discussed in the Cabinet meeting later in the day.

“I can say the solution is already thought out and is ready, but I’ll announce it after the government meeting,” Tariceanu told reporters.

Romanian President Traian Basescu on Friday passed a law increasing teachers’ wages by 50%, despite the government’s warning that the move would jeopardize economic stability.
