Romanian Accused Of Murder, Attempted Murder In Prague Risks Life Sentence

A Romanian citizen, aged 35, accused of theft, murderattempted murder and physical assault against a student in Prague, risks life sentence, MEDIAFAX said Tuesday.

On March 24, Marius Daniel Rusu attacked a 29-year-old Czech woman with a knife trying to steal her purse, but only injured the victim, according to the case file.

Later the same day, Rusu followed a 19-yea-old Czech student and assaulted her. The girl called for help and managed to escape.

Three days later, Rusu murdered a 70-year-old woman whom he stabbed several times with a kitchen knife. The man stole her mobile phone and EUR8.5.

According to doctors, Rusu is mentally challenged and his rehabilitation is problematic.

Czech judge Petr Novak will start hearings on October 21 and Rusu faces a life sentence.
