According to emergency responders, the fire manifested on a surface of nearly 1,000 sq. meters, with five fire trucks and three motorized pumps used in the intervention.

Tens of people were evacuated from the affected and nearby buildings, with no reported victims as of Friday afternoon.

Representatives of the Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (ISU) Bucharest-Ilfov announced that the intervention was made more difficult by a lack of fire hydrants in the area, with firefighters having to draw water from the nearby Morii Lake.

They added that the affected buildings were projected just under the level where fire safety reviews are necessary for adding an attic. According to a government decision, this requirement only applies to buildings with more than four floors, while the affected buildings have three stories.
