The country’s national hydrology institute INHGA issued the warning for river basins in Mehedinti, Dolj, Gorj, Valcea, Arges and Olt counties.
The flooding could mainly be caused by announced rainfall during this interval, melting snow and the evolution of ice formations. Fast floods are in danger of forming on smaller rivers in the region, with debit growth and possible local flooding expected.
The warning will be in effect starting with Thursday, 18.00 local time, until Saturday at 12.00. Higher intensity floods are expected on smaller rivers from Mehedinti, Gorj and Valcea counties from Thursday evening until Friday afternoon.
