All three victims had other medical problems and did not receive flu shots.
One of the victims was a 43-year old woman from Prahova county, who was diagnosed with type A influenza and suffered from other illnesses.
The other two are a 72-year old woman from Bucharest and a 51-year old from Gorj county, both of which did not receive flu shots. The latter also suffered from diabetes mellitus.
Romanian Health Minister Sorana Pintea told MEDIAFAX last week that Romania is on the verge of declaring a flu epidemic, as the number of cases registered at the beginning of 2019 surpassed initial estimates.
