Flu Epidemic: Two Women And Child Die As Death Toll Reaches 82

An 83-year old woman from Giurgiu county succumbed to type A influenza on February 1, according to the country’s National Public Health Institute (INSP).

Two more deaths were reported on Monday: an 83-year old woman in Covasna county and a two-year old child in Covasna county, both diagnosed with type A influenza, subtype (H1)pdm09.

All three victims were also suffering from other medical conditions and had not received flu shots.

Romania’s Health Ministry declared a flu epidemic last week, following three consecutive weeks in which the numbers of new cases surpassed initial estimates.
