Romanian Social Democrats Discussed Need A Presidential Candidate Who Can Win – Leader

Romanian social democrat leader Mircea Geoana said Saturday, after the meeting of the party’s parliamentary groups, that there were talks about party’s need to come up with a presidential candidate who could win the election.

"The rhythm of this process will depend on decisions within the party. I hope we’ll have an interior competition, not as rough as it was in the U.S., but that would put several offers on the table and lead to the nomination of one candidate as soon as possible,” Geoana said.
 
Asked whether he plans to run for president, he said neither he or other party colleagues made any final decisions so far.
 
"We’re evaluating. I myself and other colleagues are considering this. We haven’t decided yet,” Geoana said.
 
He added the Social Democratic Party needs to settle on a presidential candidate as soon as possible.
