The union is unhappy with being left out of the negotiations with the IMF, claiming the Government sees them “only as a source of tax money.”

Romanian authorities and an IMF delegation are talking over the terms of an agreement by which Romania would receive a financial aid package worth EUR19 billion. The money would be provided by the IMF, the European Commission, the European Investment Bank and the World Bank.

Prime Minister Emil Boc and Finance Minister Gheorghe Pogea met with IMF representatives Monday, after the Fund’s experts had talked with Social Democrat Party and Liberal Party members, as well as union leaders, over the course of the day.
