Fleming said the Transit Connect will be made starting next year, while in 2010 a medium class model will be launched, but this is not the new Ford Fiesta. The model will only be made in Romania, but it will be mainly destined for exports.
At the moment, Ford makes two light commercial vehicles - Transit Connect and Transit, both with a maximum weight of up to 3.5 tons – and a Transit medium class model weighing between 3.5 and 6 tons.
Representatives of some 40 Ford car part suppliers reached Craiova Wednesday morning, where they are shown the development strategy applied by the company in Romania. The supplier representatives came to Romania together with Fleming. The event is also attended by Sebastian Vladescu, chief Romanian negotiator in the privatization of the car plant.
