EU’s average industrial output grew by 1% in May, after a 0.5% increase a month earlier, EU’s statistics office Eurostat said.
It said industrial production rose in sixteen and fell in six member states in May. The highest increases were registered in Ireland (+7.5%), Slovenia (+4.5%), Poland and Sweden (both +3.4%), and the largest decreases in Luxembourg (-6.6%) and Portugal (-0.7%).
On an annual basis, industrial production rose in all EU states, except Greece (-6.3%) and Bulgaria (-1.7%). The highest increases were registered in Estonia (+17.2%), Luxembourg (+13.5%), Sweden (+13.4%), Latvia (+13.2%) and Germany (+13.1%).
Romania’s industrial output rose 2.7% in May compared with the same month of 2009, while the EU average was 8.7%.
