The MP said that while the European Union declared the energy sector as a strategic one, many thermal power plants of Romania’s state-owned electricity producer Termoelectrica are currently bankrupted or facing foreclosure proceedings.

Iancu said the high energy prices were triggered by ill management in the energy system, affecting household consumers as well as industrial producers.
