The influenza pandemic could last for two years, in four waves, Romanian Health Ministry secretary of state Adrian Streinu-Cercel said Monday.

Streinu said the AH1N1 virus is gaining ground against other forms of seasonal influenza.
Streinu said that in the October 26 - November 1 interval 174 people became infected with the new AH1N1 virus.
Romanian has registered 555 cases of H1N1 infections since May when the first case of infection with the flu virus was reported, Streinu said, adding that 174 of the 555 people infected are undergoing treatment while the rest are cured.
According to the Health Ministry, 140 H1N1 infections, out of the reported 174, are secondary cases.
