Romania’s Transelectrica Hikes Tariffs By Up To 7.8% Jan 1

Romania’s state-owned power grid operator Transelectrica (TEL.RO) rose electricity transport and system tariffs by up to 7.8% as of January 1, but kept unchanged the tariffs for the services provided by Romanian power exchange Opcom, based on an order of Romania’s Energy Authority ANRE, the company announced Tuesday.

Thus, the average tariff for energy transport rose by 5.22%, from 15.33 lei (EUR1= 3.4296)/MWh to RON16.13/MWh, the system service tariff rose by 7.8% at RON20.08/MWh, while the tariff for services provided by Opcom was kept unghanged at RON0.3/MWh.

The new tariffs, except for the transport tariffs, are in accordance with the company’s 2009 budget.

Following the transport tariff increase, Transelectrica’s budget will also be revised, alongside other cost-cut measures.

"The company plans to change the initially approved investment plan,” the company said in a press release.

On Bucharest Stock Exchange at GMT08:29, Transelectrica shares were trading flat on the day, at RON11.3.
