Fluence Z.E. (zero emission) will be launched in Romania in 2011 and will run on electricity. The users of this car can also resort to the "quick drop" service by which the car's battery is replaced with a charged one in specialized centers.
Renault chief executive officer Carlos Ghosn said Tuesday, in a press conference in Frankfurt, that Renault plans to be the first carmakerto produce electric cars for general use, at affordable prices.
Ghosn added the electric cars will not differ in price from a diesel car of same category.
The other three electric cars presented by Renault are Twizy Z.E., the smallest of the four, whose production will begin in the second half of 2011, Renault Zoe Z.E, which will appear on the market in 2012, and Kangoo Z.E., whose production is planned for 2011.
Renault is the only carmaker at the auto showroom in Frankfurt that has a full range of electric cars.
According to Ghosn, Renault invested EUR4 billion in developing the electric car concepts.
Ghosn estimates electric cars will account for 10% of the car market in 2020.
